Last Wednesday, I hit East Pole, the new locavore-friendly New York City restaurant helmed by Fat Radish veteran chef Nicholas Wilbur, to toast Remodelista's book launch. It was a fete fit for the epic DIY compendium that inspires both Pinterest dreamers and nitty-gritty renovators. The best part: the decor. Think gorgeously organic, thoroughly unfussy floral arrangements stacked on every table and atop piles of books. (Though, if we're talking about favorites, the buttery pumpkin meringue tarts were definitely a close second!) A mix of dusty miller, silver-gray olive branches, woody stems, and dainty white blooms, the rustic bouquets paid homage to the season and looked effortlessly elegant.

It's easy to get the look at home. Start in your backyard, a veritable treasure trove of materials waiting to be put to work. Once you've foraged, take a stab at these simply beautiful projects.

Wheat Bouquets

To craft the centerpiece of wheat sheaves, twist and secure wheat, purchased at a greenmarket or floral shop, with rubber bands, then wrap with a generous length of satin ribbon.

A satin ribbon elevates stalks of wheat to centerpiece status. To make, twist and secure wheat (which you can buy at drieddecor.com) with rubber bands, then wrap with a generous length of ribbon.

Feather Table Decor

The table is personalized with a mix of handcrafted ironstone, antique silver, and delightfully unexpected touches of blue hobnail glass and pheasant feathers.

A couple of pheasant feathers add texture and pops of color to cocoa-colored linen napkins. (They'd also look stunning in a vase.) Score a set of 6 at tonyhill.net.

Twig Place Settings

A bundle of petite kindling does double duty as a place setting. Show guests where to settle by tying the twigs with twine and affixing a name tag. (Also, check out 7 other cheap-and-chic ideas for Thanksgiving place cards.)
